Casino Biohub Receives SEARS

Helmont Energy are pleased receive the NSW Planning Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements from the NSW Department of Planning & Environment. These requirements will be used by the company for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Casino Biohub project.

A Scoping Report was submitted to the Department of Planning and after further consultation with the Department, the final version was lodged on 20 September 2023. This Scoping Report provided details regarding the project scope and formed the basis for the Departments evaluation and consultation with relevant public agencies, to contibute towards the preparation of the SEARs.

Helmont Energy will now commence preparation of the EIS, taking into account all of the legislative requirements and requirements laid out in the SEARs, including but not limited to:

  • Waste Management

  • Air Quality and Odour

  • Human Health

  • Traffic and Transport

  • Hazards and Risks

  • Fire and Incident Management

  • Water and Soils

  • Noise and Vibration

  • Cultural Heritage

  • Biodiversity

  • Life Cycle

  • Climate Change

The EIS is likely to be submitted by Helmont in Q1 2024, with further updates provided via the Helmont website.
